Much to our delight, there was a wonderful article printed in The Julian Journal this month letting all the back-country know about our amazing ranch. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to share about all that is available here for those facing life-altering challenges. This is a great way to promote our trail rides and encourage the private sector to come up and support our mission with their donations.
Easter Seals Cuyamaca Animal Encounter
On February 21, 2009, The Leg-Up Ranch was honored to put together an animal encounter for close to 50 beneficiaries at the Cuyamaca School Campgrounds. Miniature horses, bunnies and love made the day spectacular. Everyone involved, including Easter Seals Respite Participants and volunteers from Easter Seals and the Ranch had a wonderful day grooming horses, handling rabbits, and learning all about the care and feeding of these animals.
We are looking forward to hosting the Easter Seals Dementia Group here at the Ranch for riding, playing and hopefully a barbeque. It is great to have our partnership with Easter Seals develop and grow. We at the Ranch are reminded why we founded this great place, when we see the look of joy spread on the face of an individual reaching out for a horse from her whellchair. So many great moments were shared and even more memories made. Here at the Ranch, we are counting the days until we all get together again.
San Pasqual Academy
Thanks to San Pasqual for a Great January Visit!
On January 24, 2009, we had another great visit with the kids from the San Pasqual Academy. Everyone rallied together and worked hard to clean stalls, groom horses and keep the ranch in order. After that we shared laughter, stories and super barbeque food. Once the cheeseburgers and chips were gone, we hit the trail and took some horses for a walk. It was sad to see everyone go, but at least we know they'll be back soon. As a matter of fact, we have a visit scheduled for March during Spring Break. Better get our grill cleaned and ready!

On April 4, 2009, we had a new member of our beneficiary family come out and join us at the Ranch. The wonderful group of Blessed WIth Life came out and spent a wonderful day sharing in the Ranch experience, riding horses, and enjoy a barbeque. We watched with delight as children were taken out of their wheelchairs and brought around to collect eggs during an Easter Egg Hunt. The joy on everyone's faces throughout the day lit up the Ranch and filled our hearts with the blessings of life. Thank you, new family for coming and sharing your lives with us. Hurry on back now, ya hear?
